The Hefferlin Foundation offers support for a variety of media projects intended to promote the Science of Mind teaching. Please note that the Foundation accepts applications only from affiliates of UCSL and ICSL. “Media” as broadly defined includes book publishing, foreign language translations of Science of Mind materials, electronic media (on-line publications, DVDs, non-musical CDs and web-based educational projects), radio and television broadcasting, and theatrical productions. Our first priority is to keep in print the body of work authored by Ernest Holmes, particularly those publications which have special educational value. Writings of other prominent New Thought authors may also be considered, as may contemporary works that explain the Science of Mind in light of 21st century ideas.
Examples of media projects we have supported to date include: (1) a comprehensive source book of Ernest Holmes derived from all his writings and available on CD; (2) Spanish and Russian translations of selected books by Ernest Holmes and other writers; (3) a series of four DVDs on essential Science of Mind concepts intended for local church outreach; (4) a new book from Science of Mind Publishing on the application of daily spiritual practices toward overcoming life challenges; (5) “The Enlightenment,” a musical theater production advancing Science of Mind ideas ; and (6) a 10-hour DVD course on Judge Thomas Troward.
Applicants should be aware that each year the Hefferlin Foundation awards some $250,000-$350,000 in grants for all purposes and that, consistent with our founder's charge, most of the dollar total is allocated to ministerial scholarships and church/center projects. Media grants account for approximately 20% of the total awarded to date, with individual grants ranging from $2,200 to $35,000; the average media grant is around $12,000. The Media Committee prefers to work in partnership with grantees and looks especially favorably on applications which demonstrate other sources of support beyond that provided by the Hefferlin Foundation. Accordingly, we are willing to consider matching grant possibilities (e. g., as for one recent project, a $20,000 direct grant, with a subsequent $10,000 award matching, dollar-for dollar, funds raised by the grantee from among other sources). In no instance do we award monies for the specific purpose of covering a salary, or its equivalent, to the grantee.
NOTICE: The Hefferlin Foundation does not currently support the creation of musical CDs or general website development that is not related to Science of Mind instruction. |
